Pyrrhic Victory

Last session, the party realized that the tattoo originally held by Ruby had transferred to one of the cultists. Desperate not to lose it, the group scrambled to eliminate the target. Ultimately, Kitiara struck the killing blow, claiming a Piece of the Beast for the first time.

Seeing their assault failing, the cultist leader, Varrick the Reckoner, teleported the ship away—but Kitiara and Kaine were still on board. With a swift slice, Kaine defeated Varrick, throwing the crew into chaos.

In the confusion, a crew member triggered a self-destruct mechanism by dropping a Bag of Holding into the ship's core, causing a catastrophic implosion. The battle is finally over, but the victory comes at a cost: the party now have no way to return home.
