Explosive Survivor
When you first walk in town, you hear the sounds of explosions in the distance. You can hear people screaming. You rush over to help only to notice children running around in an empty field, screaming and giggling while the adult toss paint balls that cover the field with paint.
Explosive survivor is a game first introduced in local mage academies to get the children acquainted with the accidents that magic can cause. It instills bravery and vigilance as well as understanding that sometimes, no matter hard you plan, you will get hurt. In later years, the game has been adopted anywhere with a mage as a game at festivals an parties.
Preparation
There are several things you will need to run the game.
- A 20 x 20 open map
- A pair of d20
- Circular templates to denote the explosion
How to Play
At the start of the game, place the participant's token randomly on the map. If there are any Player Chacters participating, let them choose their starting position. While the players choose their starting position, brief them about the game. Be sure to mention that spells and flying are not allowed in the game.
Once the players are ready, show the players the template for that round's explosion. For the first round, it should be a 10ft radius explosion. Then, roll 2d20 to determine the epicenter of the explosion. The first dice determines the horizontal position and the second dice determines the vertical position.
If there are any creatures within the template, they are slathered with paint and are eliminated. If there are no creatures within range, re-roll the dice and select a new epicenter until at least one creature is affected.
At the end of the round, players may reposition themselves using their movement speed. However, they cannot touch locations where the templates are. If they touched any of the paint on the floor, they are eliminated as well.
At the beginning of a new round, show the new template to the participants. The template should grow by 10ft. The game will repeat until there is only one player remaining. If more than one players are eliminated at once in the end, both of them must roll a Dexterity saving throw. The one with the higher result is the winner!
